360° Panoramas - Virtual Reality
360° panoramas are great examples of immersive web technology giving the site visitor a fully interactive visual experience. They provide opportunities for the viewer to fully explore interior and exterior spaces using mouse or keboard controls to pan and zoom into all areas of the image.
Many web sites now use this tool to present interior details of hotels, holiday accommodation, historical buildings and even landscapes and streetscapes. "See before you visit".
Display formats include Adobe Flash, Apple QuickTime and SunMicrosystems Java using standard web browser plug-ins to present the images in any size up to full screen.
There are two different technologies that we use to produce our 360 panoramas;
High resolution image stitching
A number of seperate high resolution images are taken using a spherical or fish-eye lens. These images are then 'stitched' together to produce the image for display. Read more about HR Stitched Panoramas.
One shot system
A parabolic mirror attached to the camera lens takes a complete panorama in only one image. Software is then used to create the VR image for display. Read more about One-Shot Panoramas.
